Artist-in-Residence: John Benam

BRIEF
This poster was for Stevenson’s Fall 2019 Artist in Resident event on November 6th, 2019. John Benam is a two-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker who has worked as Director of Photography on Netflix’s 2017 Emmy-nominated series The Keepers and the cinematographer of the critically-acclaimed 2017 documentary, Charm City.
PROCESS
I started by researching John Benam and some of his projects. I created a mood board to look for inspiration and exemplars. Next, I sketched possible poster layouts. I made the poster in Adobe Illustrator, where I used the pen tool to trace John Benam and one of the ARRI AMIRA that was used in his films.
